almost 2 weeks old!!!

Sawyer is just 2 days shy of 2 weeks old. Mama Ruch flies home to Virginia tomorrow, and Jon goes back to work on Sunday. So it will just be Sawyer and I at home for most of the day. Technically Im not supposed to drive yet, but I think Ill start early anyway. This past two weeks has been tiring but perfect. I love him so much. But I must admit, when he starts crying at 3 am because he is hungry I just wish I could sleep some more. But overall Sawyer does pretty good at night, except for when he wakes up to eat. Last night he went 6 hours without eating. Thats pretty good.

Welp my brain is pretty tired right now. So Im not really up for writing a whole lot right now, but at least wanted to update with some pictures for you guys.

I am so in love with my little man!!!!

There has been a lot of excitement and new experiences this week, so obviously I havnt slept much. I didnt want to miss a moment with him. I know I know, Im supposed to be napping when he is napping, but when he is napping, I am on the internet posting pics of him cause I just want to show him off to the world, or Im trying to organize things around here. Its funny cause I totally used to be that girl that was like "what do stay at home moms do all day long, dont they get bored?" I know that is horrible that I thought that, but Ive just always worked, so my mindset has always been revolved around work. But now, I am at home with him, and even though Im not really doing anything, I am sooooo busy just taking care of him...breastfeeding, pumping, changing diapers, changing clothes that he spit up on, taking care of my hairy children too, keeping house clean....I mean I feel like there is no time to sleep, yet all I am doing is being at home.

Im not supposed to drive until Im healed so Jon is forced to run all the house errands, and go to the store, walk the dogs etc etc. And of course I guess we arent supposed to bring Sawyer out and about until he is a bit older, so I really havnt left the house much at all. Except yesterday...Jon and I had to drive to Silverdale because I had to get x-rays done for the mediation hearing coming up in november. Of course I wasnt able to get them when I was pregnant so my lawyers insisted that I do them as soon as Sawyer was born. So that was Jon and my first time away from Sawyer. Our first date, was to drive to get x-rays done. haha. So Sawyer and Oma got to hang out for awhile. But the whole time Jon and I were gone, we talked about Sawyer the whole time. We missed him so much that we wanted to get home right away rather than going to lunch or do anything else.

I am so in love with my little man. I never want to go back to work. But of course I will, but its nice to think that. :)

Sawyer has arrived!!

Ok welp, the time has come. Our family of 4 (Jon, me, Henry and Winston) has now become 5. Sawyer Jonathan Ruch is the newest member of our family. Sawyer was born on Oct 17th at 2:41 am. He weighed 8lbs 12oz and was 20.75 inches long.

We arrived to the hospital on Saturday oct 16th for a scheduled induction. They first put me on cytotek to start contractions. I was put on the monitor to see how I responded to it. And sure enough it started contractions. After a few doses of that, they put me on pitocin through IV. My contractions became more regular and harder. So I had my epidural at that time, which allowed me to fall asleep. Jon went to sleep on the cot in the room. The next thing I knew, 3 nurses were coming in the room with worried looks on their faces and looking at the monitors. I asked them"is something wrong." They said that Sawyer was losing oxgen and I was probably going to have a C-section. I started crying at this news, but didnt even have time to really comprehend it before the Dr. was there, and then I was being wheeled into the OR. My mom and Jon got scrubs on and it all happened so fast. I couldnt believe it. Sawyer was born via emergency C-section. The reason that he had lost oxygen and did not drop and cause me to dilate, was because he had the umbilical cord around his neck. So even though I was having contractions, those could have gone on forever and I still wouldnt have dilated, because physically he was unable to drop into the birth canal.

It was pretty imediate that Jon made that change to FATHER. Being that I was on so many drugs and so exhausted, it took me 2 days before I really looked at him and my life changed. But once I did, oh man...

They kept me in the hospital 3 days, which was good, cause I could hardly move. Just getting in and out of the hospital bed was hard. The nursing staff was really wonderful. We came home on Tuesday, and we had lots of help and support to make the transition of bringing home baby easier. It has been quite a ride, but actually not too bad. My days have been spent breast feeding, and changing diapers. It has been hard though to not do too much. Im not supposed to do any cleaning or too much activity, which is hard for me to not be productive. So I have just been hanging out with Sawyer, which has been perfect. And Jon is also on his paternity leave so our little family is just working together to get things done. Jon has been beyond wonderful helping me with everything and being so good with Sawyer. He already is the best dad. He already was the best husband.

I ll try to keep this updated with Sawyer's progress. I also plan to get a video camera soon so I can get little videos up of him, so especially those of you that are far away can see him.

only a few days left...

Well today is Wednesday...my Dr. scheduled me to be induced on Saturday. So I know this can only last 3 more days. Many people have asked me why I want to be induced. I must clarify...I dont WANT to be induced. Of course I would rather this little guy come out all on his own, but honestly, Im not feeling too optimistic that he will. He seems to like it in there.

Of course this whole pregnancy has been hard for me, but this last 2 weeks has been especially hard. My last day of work was last thursday, the day before my official due date. My manager stopped scheduling me after that, just because she didnt want to put me on the schedule, and then have me go into labor, and then have to get all of my shifts covered. And I had agreed to that at the time, because I thought for sure that I would have delivered by my due date, so little did I think that I would be sitting at home for a week just waiting on Sawyer. On one hand I wish that I was working to help pass the time, but on the other hand, its probably good that Im not because I haven't been able to sleep at night for the past week and a half or more, so working would just probably cause me lots of tears. My belly feels sooo huge that its hard for me to get up off the couch, or turn over in bed etc etc. My back and boobs are killing me.

So basically my week has been me just trying to get naps in, and walking the dogs. Im trying to remain diligent with my walking, but I admit, it gets harder and harder as each day passes. I stop and think, how do people ever carry twins or triplets. Oh my gosh is all I can say.

Anyway, thats all I got for now. Hopefully the next post will have a picture of Sawyer in it.

still pregnant!!!

Ok, well not much to report, but I guess Ill whine a little bit more on my blog about being pregnant since it has to come to an end soon. Today I am 39 weeks and 3 days. The official due date is this friday. A lot of people filled my head with the hopes that I would go in September. They said "jeez you're huge, you wont make it til October." So silly me kind of started to believe that. So now, even though I havnt technically hit my 40 wk due date, it sort of feels like Im late already. I know every pregnant woman says this, but it truly feels like I have been pregnant FOREVER. Which is wierd cause it doesnt feel like I have been married forever. And Ive pretty much been pregnant the entire time that Ive been married.
I have to just include a little blurb in here about how in love with my husband that I am. I was thinking the other day, how it was only 2 years ago that I was still mending a broken heart from someone that I shouldnt have even been with. I thought that I would never get to this point in life. And now that I am with Jon, it feels like he has always been there. It feels like I have never been with anyone but him. He is such a good man and good husband, and he doesnt think so, but he is going to be the best daddy ever. I just am so lucky God decided to give me this amazing husband, even though I really didnt deserve him at all.

Ok, so anyway, here I am, still pregnant. Today is my last day of scheduled work before maternity leave starts. But I sort of feel like if Sawyer decides to not come this week, then maybe I should try and pick up some extra shifts at work. Even though working right now is pretty hard, I hate to waste my leave when I havnt even had the baby yet. Id rather use it to be home with Sawyer, not home waiting on Sawyer. I dont know what I should do.
Im doing everything I need to be doing to get this baby out. Im still doing my walking about 4 times a week. The doggies love me being pregnant cause they get so many walks. Since Im not really going to the gym as much, im just doing my walking outside with them. They arent complaining at all. Anyway...I guess thats all for now. Hopefully the next time I post something, it will be pictures of our little man arriving. I cant wait to meet him. I hope he looks just like Jon. :)
